Why Choose LS Effects?
LS Pedals are all hand-built in Jacksonville FL. Every pedal is built with the highest quality parts and methods, as outlined below. The better parts and better methods cost more money and take way more time, but I guarantee the end result is worth the extra cost.
True Bypass
Every LS Pedal utilizes true hardware bypass switching. This means that when the pedal is off, all that separates the input and output jacks is a very short strand of, Teflon insulated silver plated military spec wire, with ZERO impact on your tone.
1% Metal Film Resistors
I use 1% metal film resistors in all my pedals. These resistors have excellent noise properties and low tolerance, which means that there is greater consistency from product to product. Metal film resistors are regularly used in high fidelity home theater, studio gear and other professional/industrial gear.
Film and silver mica Capacitors
The capacitor has a huge impact on tone due to how it interacts with AC signals. Because of this, the choice of capacitor is very important to the tone of the pedal. Most effect pedals manufactures use capacitors with a 10% tolerance. I use capacitors with a 5% tolerance, to keep the tone consistence from pedal to pedal. I use metallized polyester film capacitors, which are generally considered the best in terms of cost/size/performance. For smaller values, I use silver mica capacitors. Silver Mica capacitors cost around 10 times more than the ceramic type that are commonly used, but they give you smoother and clearer highs. Occasionally I will use ceramic and electrolytic capacitors but generally only in non-critical tone areas, for power filtering, or when large capacitance values are needed (greater then 1uf), and higher tolerances are acceptable.
Power Filtering
Many guitarist user power supplies that are less then ideal. Most suffer from some amount of AC bleed, meaning that the pedal receives some noise in the power line itself. All LS pedals incorporate a very high quality, noise-killing, power filtering system.
Neutrik and Switchcraft Jacks
I have tried numerous brands and types of jacks, and one thing I have learned is that one should never skimp when considering input and output jacks. All LS pedals only use Neutrik® or Switchcraft® jacks that are rated with a 10,000 cycle minimum.
LS Effects
My goal with every LS pedal is to come as close to perfect as possible. I believe my pursuit of perfection makes a difference you can hear.
Sincerely,
Levi Speights
