A new ROC? Yes. A great thing just got way better. Here's the info...
When I first introduced the original LS ROC back in 2009, it was a pedal that could combine the sounds of modern heavy distortion with the tonal transparency of a good tube amp.
After stepping back and looking over the ROC again, I came up with two other requirements. First, I wanted to incorporate into the ROC the ability to go from a mild boost, to an overdrive, and then onto heavy distortion, without changing the overall character of my amp's inherent tone. Basically, I wanted this pedal to be able to offer 'soft bluesy overdrive', AND 'hard compressed distortion' with everything in-between. Second, it needed to be smaller and cheeper.
Introducing, the new LS ROC. This is a truly transparent pedal that is effectively like adding a second channel to any amp. By having a pre-distortion Bass control and post-distortion treble Cut control, the mid hump EQ found in most OD/Distortion pedals can be eliminated if desired. This also means that when you step on the ROC your guitar and amp's unique tone will still be what you hear. The ROC is one of the absolute best clean boost and/or distortion pedals ever designed.
The first thing you will notice about the ROC is the range of drive you will get from the Drive knob. Crank it hard left and you will get an amazingly transparent clean boost pedal. Turn the Drive to around 12 o'clock and the ROC becomes a warm tube-like gritty overdrive pedal with an ultra touch-sensitive response. Crank the gain hard right and the ROC turns into a fire-breathing, face-pummeling, everything-on-10 wall of distortion. Modern heavy rock at it's best.
In a nutshell the LS ROC is an extremely versatile pedal that shows off your guitar and amp's unique tone, instead of covering it up. Extreme modern heavy distortion, smooth bluesy overdrive, or transparent clean boost. Try one and you’ll find out why it’s the one pedal you’ll never want to play without.
