8-oh-8 and 8-oh-8 'Deluxe'

When I first sat down to design the LS 8-oh-8's circuit, I wanted a pedal that was like the TubeScreamer TS-808, but with more 'cream', better transparency, and a better tone. I believe I have achieved that with the LS 8-oh-8. If you like the sound of a TS-808, you will LOVE the LS 8-oh-8 because it blows the TubeScreamer away!
Although the LS 8-oh-8's circuit started out in 'TubeScreamer land', it is NOT just a TS clone. The input stage has been reworked, the gain stage is different, and the tone stage of the circuit was scraped and redesigned from scratch which allows it to be a very open and effective presence control that can smooth out or add upper harmonics. The OP-Amp (JRC4558) is the only part of the LS 8-oh-8's circuit that is similar to the original TS-808. The 8-oh-8 Deluxe also adds a voice switch that changes the EQ of the 8-oh-8 from the 'classic' mid hump EQ, to a somewhat flatter, more bottom end EQ. This feature opens up a totally new palette of overdrive sounds.
Classic overdrive has never sounded better. Santana like sustain, Clapton strat sounds, Gary Moore overdrive or bluesy Stevie Ray tones, this pedal handles them all. The organic overdrive the LS 8-oh-8 produces is a very 'tube amp' like tone. With unmatched touch sensitivity, complex harmonics, and transparent guitar tone, the LS 8-oh-8 is the pedal that lives on my pedal board! With the ability to go from light tube sounding grit to heavy overdrive with violin-like sustain, the LS 8-oh-8 can meet your overdrive needs. I am very happy with the LS 8-oh-8. Just wanted to say it (the 8-oh-8) arrived in time for my gig and is without a doubt the best overdrive pedal I or any of my band members have ever heard or used. The perfect blend of cream and chains as I say a good overdrive should be haha. Your pedals are amazing. I gig 4-5 times a week and couldnt be happier with the sound and durability.

Hi Levi, just to let you know i received my pedal today. Had a play with the pedal and i have to say its the best overdrive i have played thru, it is better than i could have ever imagined. with my strat with texas pickups going thru your overdrive into a fender blues junior amp i was blown away, you should really be proud of what you have designed/made. the search for my "tone" as ended today. I Think i may have to save for the rest of your pedal range! Many thanks indeed

Received the pedal today. It is everything you said and i read it would be. It doesn't have a bad setting on it. It is certainly worth more than i paid for it. I will let everyone in Memphis know about you and your 8-oh-8. I sold my vintage tube screamer and now I'm actually glad i did. great product, I'm shocked at how good it is!! thanks all the best.

Hey, I love this pedal! It is awesome for a slight overdrive. That is my favorite setting about 11:00 on the drive knob. I also like the full Blown Overdrive it can get too. Better sound on lead than the Tube Screamer. Man You have something here. In about 3 or 4 months I might get another one so I can have one set on full drive and one on my Bluesy setting… I am going to take it to my tech and let him check it out. I will bet that he will want one. Thank You for the 8-oh-8.

I got the LS8 0h 8 today and immediately plugged in and played for a half hour or so. It sounds super. The overtones, the edgy drive without being loaded with grit...really hit the spot with me. I also like the clarity when it is turned off and passes the sound through without coloring it. I am happy to recommend this to any player looking for the true overdriven tube sound without burying their tones in noise. Only minor comment is i would like an easier battery access, but i will get a 9v adaptor. Thanks Levi for a fine product.
